James Eaton was born on April 16, 1946, to the late William and Dorotha Good Eaton in West Virginia.  He came to Cleveland, Ohio over 60 years ago to start a new life. James was called to rest after a brief illness on August 3, 2026, in Bedford Heights, Ohio.

James was the last born in a family of eight, and six are now deceased: four brothers, Frank, Leroy, William, and Bobby; and two sisters, Mary and Martha.

James was a graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, West Virginia, where he made his mark on the football team, the Farmington Farmer.

James was married to Bessie Blackman on August 30, 1969, and to this union were born two sons, Anthony William, and Kurtis James. James was a family man who loved to spend precious moments with his grandchildren and would always attend any and all family functions.

James was a retired union man, having worked many years at Great Lakes Cold Storage in Solon, Ohio. James loved his retirement, and after mowing his lawn, he enjoyed sitting on his patio, watching the hummingbirds come in, or relaxing in his recliner while watching Gunsmoke or any other action film. James especially enjoyed playing Tonk with his cousin Dorothy (Dot).

James leaves to mourn his wife, Bessie; his sons, Anthony, (the late Andrielle), and Kurtis (Ebony); three grandchildren, Anthony James Livingston “AJ,” Khayan James, and Kien Willie; his sister, Naomi Paige; his brother-in-law, Fred Blackman (Daphne); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

James would ask us not to weep or moan, for he has found a new place to call home. May he now rest in peace.
