James is survived by his beloved wife Mary Talley; children Tonya Talley, Michelle Way (David), Jasmine Talley-Jackson (Sedaric); siblings, Willie Talley, Ray Talley, Jerry Talley, Pamela Parker, Tony Talley (Kimberly); grandchildren, TéJaun Ri’Chard, Caelin Ri’Chard, LeMaro Smith, Jr., Michael Way, Aaryn Way, Jaedyn Way, David Way, Jr., Shannon Jackson; great grandchildren, Nova Reign Brown; and a host of family and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents James & Mary Frances Talley.

Dear Papa,
Everyday I think about you. I think about all the good times we had. I remember when we used to go on walks and do things we weren't supposed to. These memories are very special to me. You were by best friend papa. I remember all the times I came to see you in the hospital and told you what happened in my basketball games. I was in a deep sadness for a long time. I remember when I heard you died, I was getting picked up by my mom and she told me what happened. I remember just a week before, I was talking to you on the phone and now you were gone? I was so confused. I wanted to know what happened. I still cry when our favorite song "Young hearts Run free" plays. On September 7, 2021 is when I lost one of the best inspirations, best friends, and one of the most important people in the world. I don't play about my papa. If somebody talk about you, I'll have to talk care of them! Thank you for all the times you had took me to church and taught me about God. At a point in time after your death, I lost my faith in God. I didn't know why if God loved me so much, that he would take away one of the most important people in my life. I just started to lift my head high and start to think "papa's in a better place now". Thank you for all you do for me and for all the lessons you have given me. You will Always be loved.

I enjoyed talking to Mr. Talley when I was in the US last Christmas. I still remember Mr.Talley told me about his job when he was young. I didn’t understand the word “ weld”, he took out one of his books to explain this to me. Those memories are very precious for me. I believe this is not the end. Mr. Talley will have another beautiful life somewhere else.
