Dear Woods family, I had the pleasure of working with Mr Woods at the blast furnace. As God planned we crossed paths. He was patient and kind. A teacher. A mentor. He made the world a better place. Rest in Peace Mr Woods.

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ. This poem helped my family get over the loss of our daughter Jacqueline. James was a source of strength during that time. He was a mentor and big brother when I came to the Cleveland Blast Furnace in 1998 after coming from LTV's Pittsburgh Coke plant, not knowing a thing about blast furnaces. Uprooting my wife and five daughters to Cleveland, he made me feel welcome and I will never forget him.

Jeff Drummond left a message on March 9, 2021:
James and I met over 40 years ago at the J&L blast furnaces in Cleveland, Ohio. Transfers separated us for many years but we were reunited in 1998 and we worked together for 11 more years until I retired. James was one of the hardest working, high integrity men that I ever had the privilege to work with. He was both a friend and coworker and I know he will be missed by the many who were privileged to have known him. There is a tight circle of Blast Furnace workers and James was a key ingredient in that group, who share a common bond. I am sorry that Covid prevents us from being together to share memories of James. I offer my sincere condolences to wife and family. Thank you for sharing some of James's life with me. Jeff Drummond
