This poem helped my family get over the loss of our daughter Jacqueline. James was a source of strength during that time. He was a mentor and big brother when I came to the Cleveland Blast Furnace in 1998 after coming from LTV's Pittsburgh Coke plant, not knowing a thing about blast furnaces. Uprooting my wife and five daughters to Cleveland, he made me feel welcome and I will never forget him.

James and I met over 40 years ago at the J&L blast furnaces in Cleveland, Ohio. Transfers separated us for many years but we were reunited in 1998 and we worked together for 11 more years until I retired. James was one of the hardest working, high integrity men that I ever had the privilege to work with. He was both a friend and coworker and I know he will be missed by the many who were privileged to have known him. There is a tight circle of Blast Furnace workers and James was a key ingredient in that group, who share a common bond. I am sorry that Covid prevents us from being together to share memories of James. I offer my sincere condolences to wife and family. Thank you for sharing some of James's life with me.
