Janice was born on May 2, 1954, in Malvern, Arkansas, her parents’ hometown, while her mother was there on vacation. She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended John Adams High School and graduated in 1972, the same year she welcomed her first daughter, Lakysha. Janice was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent many years employed at the Federal Building and later at the VA Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
Janice was a devoted parent and a passionate advocate for her children. She served for many years as a parent liaison at Shaw High School, where she made a lasting impact on students and families alike. She was also a committed member of the Shaw High School Mighty Marching Cardinal Band Booster Club, where she supported the band through trips, events, and mentorship-often extending her care and encouragement to children beyond her own.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Whitlow and Nathaniel Whitlow; her husband, Arthur B. Hill Sr.; and her sisters, Anita Moxley and Betty (Jackie) Morris.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lakysha Harper (Stan), Arthur B. Hill, II., and Carly E. Hill; her grandchildren, Janai Harper and Stanley Harper III; her siblings, Gloria Guyton (Eugene) and Nathaniel Perry Whitlow III; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
