Jaylen Monte Price was born on November 4, 2003, to Renia Monique Price and Charles Hamm. From the very beginning, he was surrounded by deep love from Lee Martin Sr. (BigCuz), who was there from day one.
Renia always said, “If something ever happens to me, I want Nita and Fraz to raise Jaylen, because I know Frazier will get him together.” When Renia transitioned from this life on June 12, 2016, Nita and Uncle Frazier honored that wish with open hearts and open arms. They took full custody of Jaylen, raising him with the same love, structure, and strength his mother would have given him. They also took Jaylen to church and instilled in him the importance Christianity. Jaylen gave his life to Christ in 2022.
Jaylen was a proud graduate of Shaker Heights High School, Class of 2022. He gave it everything he had, fighting all the way to the last hour to walk that stage. Making his Mommy, TT and Unc very proud.
Jaylen was full of life, heart, and soul. He loved his family, his friends, getting dressed, dancing and eating good. Whether it was a family function or a quick bite, Jaylen showed up fresh with all his friends and left full. He loved football and basketball. He would spend many days and nights at Thornton Park.
His smile lit up the room, and his loyalty ran deep. If he loved you, you knew it and if you ever needed him, he showed up.
Jaylen leaves behind his two beautiful daughters, Egypt and Na’turee(Naena) who were the center of his world. He also leaves behind his brothers: Isiah (Tashay), Thomas (Mercedez), Davaun (Alexis), Rayshaun (Elicia), Nick, Toodle, David Lee Monte and Brandon: his sisters: Taleeah, Kaela, Moriah, and Mikayla.
Jaylen was also a proud and playful uncle to his nieces and nephews: Modesty, King, Mina, Rocco, Kyel, Myyona , Messiah, Zahara, Zyeon, Reign, Royal, Kody, Nani, Major and Kenzie who brought him joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love.
He shared an unbreakable bond with his cousins—Jeremiah, Treven, Maurice Isis, Ian, and Baby Dre—who were more like siblings than cousins. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmother Elvis Price, his TT Yvette, his uncle’s Ronnie, and Ernest (Lu) and his cousin Shuntama(Winston)who lovingly gave him the name Jaylen a name that carried him with pride and purpose throughout his life.
The family would also like to acknowledge Jaylen’s very close friends, which are too many to name. You guys have been instrumental in Jaylen’s transition, and we can’t thank you enough., They stood by him with love, loyalty, and true brotherhood. Your presence in his life meant everything, and your friendship will forever be cherished.
Jaylen was one of one. Funny, protective, stylish, and full of love. His time here may have been short, but his impact was unforgettable. His legacy lives on through the people he loved and the many who loved him back.
