Jeanette Estelle Juanoquez passed away suddenly on Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born on May 18, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Clarita Johnson; brother, Frankie Johnson, Jr. and her former husband Bobby Jones.
Jeanette attended St. Edwards Catholic School in Cleveland and the Old Central High School in Akron. As a young entrepreneur, Jeanette owned and operated her hair salon. Later she pursued a career in education that began as a teacher with the Akron Public School district. Jeanette moved to California and lived there for many years. She taught at Canoga Park Elementary School in Canoga Park, California. In 1999, Jeanette decided to return to her roots in Akron.
An avid reader who had a flair with arts and crafts, Jeanette liked to decorate and shop for bargains in thrift stores and at flea markets. She cherished the company of children and engaged in stimulating conversations. Jeanette loved to listen to the radio, especially religious programs and jazz. She watched basketball games, old westerns, and documentary programs on television. Her sage advice to her children and relatives will be sorely missed.
Jeanette leaves to mourn and cherish her sister Barbara J. Huling (Merritt); daughters, Roberta D. Johnson-Kea and Gail Juanoquez; granddaughter Ta’ Tanisha J. Johnson; great-granddaughter Tomi M. Johnson, cousin Leo Beavers and family of Cleveland, Ohio and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
