Jeanette Turneur born August 22, 1950, in Munford, AL, departed from this life on November 12, 2022. She was one of five daughters and one son born to the late Tisdale and Corine Colley. At an early age, Jeanette gave her life to Christ.
Jeanette, who was affectionally known as “Jen,” was educated in the Munford, Al school system until her family moved from Alabama to Akron Ohio. Jeanette graduated from North High. Jeanette met and married Michael Turneur while working for Akron General Medical Center of Akron. Jeanette worked many years in the healthcare industry until she retired.
Jeanette was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing the game with her mother and sisters. She also loved playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Jeanette was a “food connoisseur” and loved her soul food, especially collard greens and chitterlings. Jeanette was also an excellent dancer. She was a true Colley sister who didn’t bite her tongue. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Turneur; sister, Rose Beard; daughter, Darnetta Chapman; and great-grandson, Eric Deaire.
Jeanette leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughter, Twilla Chapman of Akron, OH; son, Brandon Chapman of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Eric (Eureka) Mitchell of Columbus, OH, Erica Mitchell of Akron, OH, Alonza Street IV of Akron, OH, Rashard James of Akron, OH; great-grandchildren, Eaireyonah, GAsia, Cayden, Eleiya, Eiress, Envy, Trinity, Tray, Myonah, Khaloni, and Zyria; 1 brother, Jerry (Elsie) Colley of Akron, OH; 3 sisters, Mizzdell Glover of Raleigh, NC, Gail Carter of Akron, OH, and Dorothy Chavis of Raleigh, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
