Jeannette Sowell, 70, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 28, 1955, to the late Jimmie H. Cochran Sr and Lorene Cochran. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Diane Robinson-Cole, and her brothers; Roosevelt Tisdel, Blair Cochran, Wallace Cochran, and Jimmie Cochran Jr.

Jeannette was born, raised, and educated in Cleveland, Ohio, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She later moved to Akron, Ohio, attended the University of Akron, and became a member of the National Honor Society. After 32 years of service, she retired from North Coast Behavioral Healthcare in Sagamore Hills. As a licensed drug counselor, she continued serving others in several roles, including with Summit County Adult Protective Services. With the early support of Veola Baldwin, Jeannette celebrated 40 years of recovery. She was a devoted member of A.A. and gave generously of her time as an advocate for numerous organizations, helping countless people navigate challenges and find a path to recovery. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind spirit, impeccable style, love for the Cleveland Browns, and the many selfless ways she impacted those around her.

Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Larry Robert Sowell Jr of Akron, Ohio, her grandsons, Jamontye, Kemp, Million, Larreal, and LaGrand; her sisters, Myrtle Watson, Wanda Locklear (Charles), Sharon Cochran-Yarbough (Bennie), and Deborah Blackman; her brother, Reginald Cochran (Gladys); dear friends, Marshon and Claudia; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
