Born March 28, 1949, to Elesta M. King and Edward K. Moore, Jeannette Weeden, affectionately known as Jenny, passed at the age of 75 on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with family lovingly by her side.
After graduating from John Adams High School in 1967, Jeannette worked a number of jobs before landing with the City of Cleveland Parking Enforcement Department from which she retired as supervisor of the department. During her tenure, she received accolades for outstanding service by then Mayor Frank Jackson.
The year was 1972 when Jeannette would first cross paths with Kenneth. In 1974, they found themselves walking down the aisle for the nuptials of his brother, the late Lawrence W. Weeden, Sr. and Jeannette’s good friend Barbara Posey. Twenty-two years later, on September 16, 1996, Kenneth and Jeannette joined hands in marriage and for 28 years they shared a life of love and happiness.
Who was Jeannette? Jeannette lived a simple, laid-back, and relaxed life, she went with the “flow.” She was a secret-keeper and confidant. She was meek but not timid. She was mild-mannered, observant, reflective, patient and kind. In a nutshell, calm, cool, and collected best described Jeannette. Within her private and reserved demeanor lived a woman who was social, witty, and quite comical. In her quiet time, she sharpened her mind with wordsearches and crossword puzzles. Her easy-going spirit was surely welcomed by many and will be greatly missed by all.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents including Robert L. King Sr., sister Diane Mills and cousin Phyllis White.
Jeannette is survived by her loving husband Kenneth R. Weeden, Jr., daughters Tracey Peek (Howard) and Crystal Betha’, bonus daughters Tamikka James-Haygood (Michael) and Bethany Williams (Dwayne), siblings Robert L. King Jr .(Joyce) and Sharmayne Perkins, grandson Ellis Peek, bonus grandchildren Anita Tolber (Nathaniel), Desinique James, JaKeith James, Desi James Jr, Javonte James, Michael Haygood Jr., and Adaya Haygood, 4 great-grandchildren, nephew Robert L. King III,(fiancé Asana) and nieces Danielle R. Mills and Dionna C. Walker (Ambrose) along with a host of family and friends.
Our hearts mourn the loss, and we take comfort in knowing her journey continues.
