Jerome A. Bass, also known to others as Billy Bass, Romie Rome, Bill, Bass, or simply Unc. He was a friend to ALL that crossed his path. Never met a stranger. “What’s up Square”, “You Turkey”, “Romie Rome in the house!” A friend for life. Some may ask, “Where did he get the name ‘Billy Bass’ from?” Well back when he was younger there was a D.J. called Billy Bass on the radio and he took up that name from then on.
Jerome was born to the proud parents of Richard and Mary Bass, who both preceded him in death. Five crazy sisters who loved him dearly. Betty and Louise both preceded him in death. Linda, Marsha and Tony (brother-in-law), Carmetta and Jameel Brabson (brother-in-law).
Jerome grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and attended Shaker Schools, also Cleveland Schools. He loved sports, playing cards, chess, and dominoes. Riding motorcycles (he could ride too!) and women, amongst other things.
He really had a good heart. He was fun, silly at times, and loved to eat. You could always find him hanging out on Kinsman, “Kinsman County!”
To our recollection Jerome had one daughter named Andrea.
He finally, finally accepted Christ later on in life. He even went to Y-Haven on Woodland. He did it. He did it y’all and got cleaned! When you hear The Dramatics play, think of him, he loved them.
His birthday was November 9th, 1955. We gone make that Jerome Day!
Remember that date, he would have been 71 and said “he didn’t think he would live to see 50.”
Y’all know we are mostly family in here, because you were his nephew, niece, sister or brother. But whatever you were to him, we know one thing, he touched your heart in some way and even if he got on your last nerve, you still loved him and will miss him.
He leaves to mourn:
Linda, Marsha (Tony), Carmetta (Jameel).
A huge amount of nephews and nieces, both great and great-great, and a plethora of friends and family.
Our family would like to thank his friends, some who were very vocal [unclear] in this process.
We had no idea the love you all had for our dear brother.
Thank you, Kinsman County!
