Jessie L. Little, age 62, went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2022.
A King’s Legacy
Jessie L. Little was the eldest child of seven. He was born to the late Jessie L. Hardix, and Annie L. Burks nee Little, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on May 27, 1960. He was immersed in family life, and was fondly nick named “Poco Rock” “Lakeitha” “Little Man” “Sir Little” and “Mr. Pop Lock” and -his favorite saying to his family and friends, “I’ll smack the taste out of your mouth”
The family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1965. Jessie believed in Jesus Christ and gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Good Hope Baptist Church.
Jessie graduated from Maple Heights High School in 1977, and shortly thereafter join the United States Army, serving his country actively for years. Concluding his tour of duty, Jessie immediately became employed as a masonry, one of his many skills. He was an extremely nice person, and had a niche of befriending anyone he met, often resulting in long lasting, and respectful friendships.
Jessie was blessed with a large family. He met and married his best friend, Barbara Kim Taylor, in June of 1998. Jessie was a gentle, kind, loving, and respect individual, especially when it came to his wife, and mother. He’s what people called a “good old-fashioned gentleman” because he believed in family supporting one another, values, unity, and respecting your parents, and elders at all costs. Jessie rarely raised his voice, or argued with anyone…a strength, and not a weakness.
Although a quiet spirit, Jessie was there for anyone no matter what, and constantly could be observed stepping into the role of a babysitter, counselor, caregiver, and even a banker. However, his biggest, and happiest role was being a family man, i.e., husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and world’s greatest uncle, and great uncle.
A cook at heart, Jessie believed food was good for the soul. After sampling his cuisine, one would be left happy, and satisfied, and would often crave one of his delectable dishes, because you would be hooked. A favorite among many was his famous peach cobbler, and his slide off the bone ribs. Jessie, and his incredible dishes will be fondly missed by his loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful and lasting memories: His loving and devoted wife, Barbara Kim Little; four children, Antionette White (Micah), Leslie Taylor, Michael Taylor, Robert Taylor; 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. His mother Annie Burks, six siblings, Jerry Burks (Renee), Tammy Bougere, Teresa Mosesley, Tonya Burks, Timothy Campbell, and Charmone Adams Sr., (Joi). Eight nephews, twelve nieces, nine great nephews, three great nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, and host of friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Terry Burks, his father Jessie Hardix , and his grandparents.
