Jessie E Jones “JJ” “Tee” was born on August 13, 1944 in Jackson, MS to Harriet Jenkins. Jessie passed away peacefully, and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Jessie was the eldest of her two siblings; her sister, Loretta Jenkins and a brother, Earl Gardner.
Jessie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Timothy Bibleway Church in Barberton, Ohio. She later joined and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Jessie was a member of varies social groups, to name a few: The Exotic Six, The Akron Area Women’s Committee, The Java Shoppe and proud sponsor of many AA sponsee’s. She was also one of the founding members of the Kapatta Sober Social Club. She was very proud to celebrate more than 35 plus years of sobriety. Jessie also volunteered at many organizations throughout the Northeast Ohio area, to name a few: the Women’s and Men’s Homeless Shelter, the Akron Children’s Services and Women’s Battered Shelter. There were many hobbies that she enjoyed, such as bowling, watching baseball games and playing cards, entertaining and cooking. She later had a love for going to the Casino and hosting many bus trips going to Seneca Niagara, which was her favorite past time.
In her early years, she was an assistant teacher at Bryant Elementary School. She was also employed and retired from Chrysler Stamping Plant after 35-plus years of service. After her retirement, she went back into the school system as a cafeteria worker.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Harriet Jenkins-Finch; father, Freddie Finch; son, Tino Anthony Jones; and brother, Earl Gardener.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memories sons, Robert Cooper and Theodore Fields and sister, Loretta Jenkins; niece/daughters, Tonia Caldwell, Marcella (Rudolph) Anderson of California, Stephanie (Lovelle) Cannon of Canton, Ohio, Melinda Milling,and (Somaar) Tamica Grant; special great niece, Joy Caldwell, Akisha and Marmica; nephews, Jesse, Dominique, Lonell, Lamar, Giovanni and Ross; granddaughters, Briana and Thyme Watley; best friend/sister, Lorraine King, Peggy Butler, Cookie Sanders and Mary Jones; special nephews, Gary and Garnet Jones, and a host of other nephews, nieces, great nieces, and nephews, close friends and family.
The family of Jessie E Jones would like to express with sincere gratitude, their appreciation for all the prayers, words of encouragement, and countless acts of kindness during their time of bereavement. A special thanks to the Traditions Hospice Care Center and The Concordia of Sumner for the care they provided to our loved one. Please continue to keep the family uplifted, as they celebrate the life and legacy of Jessie as she transitioned into life.
