Jessie Mae Burns was born on October 16, 1919 in West Point, Mississippi to the late Lubirda Porter Rupert and the late Scott Rupert Sr. She accepted Christ in her life and united with St. Robertson Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burns was united in marriage to the late Lay Fred Wilson and to this union, three children were born. Later, she was united in marriage to the late Willie Andrew Burns and to this union, three children were born.
Mrs. Burns enjoyed going to the casino, cooking, babysitting all of her grandkids, and watching baseball and basketball.
Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her son, Willie Curtis Wilson, and her daughter, Paulette Hampton-Smith.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Mildred Spraggins of West Point, Mississippi; one step-brother, Scott Rupert Jr. (Dorothy) of Chicago, Illinois; and one step-sister, Emma Lou Brown of Jackson, Tennessee; as well as two daughters, Edith Mae Burns (Willie) and Terrie Anderson of Cleveland, Ohio; two sons, Eddie C. Burns and Wilbert Willson of West Point, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
