Jimmy Magee was born on January 18, 1946 in Tylertown, Mississippi and raised in Franklinton, Louisiana. He is the fifth of eight children born to Myrtis and Linzie Magee. At the age of 15, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he spent the majority of his adult life. Soon after high school he joined the Navy where he served for just under 4 years. He later returned to Cleveland where he continued his education in computer operations. Jimmy met his loving wife Iris while working at Blue Cross Blue Shield. God blessed them with 50 wonderful years of marriage. Family was very important to Jimmy and he was very proud of his four children: Jermaine, Erica, Antoinette and Taniesha. As their families grew, he was always excited to spend time with his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “PaPa”
Sports, like Baseball, Golf, or Bowling, came easy for Jimmy. From fishing to keeping up a garden Jimmy stayed active. He used his business and interpersonal skills throughout his life to wear many hats: from being a supervisor in computer operations, to starting his own business, selling homes in real estate, to being active as a Deacon in the church. We all remember how active he had been in leadership roles for our beloved Harvey family reunions.
Jimmy is survived and missed by his loving wife Iris, of 50 years; and his children, Jermaine, Erica & Kevin, son-in-law Errick, and Taniesha & Charles. Forever cherished and remembered by his ten grandchildren, Brittany & Lawrence, Marie, Lauryn, David, Alyssa, Olivia, James, Reid, Aminah, and Grant; and one great-grandson, Lawrence. Siblings and their families; Barbara, Myrtis Jr., Tempie & Roy, Rosemary, Betty, Emma, and Linda. As well as a host of other family and friends.
