Joan (Mitchell) McIntosh was the second oldest of four children, born to the late Gertrude (Philpot) and William Mitchell. She was born on July 15, 1949.
Joan attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School.
Joan confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church under, Reverend A. Henson Jarmon. Later she became a Charter member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1973, Joan was united in Holy Matrimony to the late (Ollie) Frazier McIntosh. To this union two children were born. Later in life Joan birthed a loving son Brandon with a significant other.
Joan’s favorite hobbies were shopping, drinking coffee, barbequing, sitting in her yard or on the porch, and watching some of her favorite black & white cowboy shows. Also, talking and spending time with family. Joan always had very pleasant spirit. Always smiling and was kind to everyone. Joan worked at several different jobs throughout her life, Mr. Coffee, Midwest Direct, AmeriServ, and shoppers World.
Joan loved sweets and snacks. Some of her favorites included Pepsi, pound cake, cheesy popcorn, and sherbet ice cream.
Joan went to sleep peacefully in the late hours of Friday, May 9, 2025.
Joan was proceeded in death by both her parents Gertrude and William. Three brothers, Leon Mitchell, Richard Mitchell, and Myron Mitchell. All her grandparents, one Uncle Nathan Philpot, three aunts, Luvenia Richardson, Margaret Corley, and Mabel Johnson.
Joan leaves to mourn three children. One daughter, Darlene (McIntosh) Rowell (Terrence Sr.) and two sons Steven McIntosh and Brandon (McIntosh) Jefferson. Four grandchildren Terrence Rowell Jr. (Asia), Trayvon Rowell, DyShawn McIntosh, and Mkayla Rowell. Four great-grandchildren Emoni Rowell, Malaysia Rowell, Tru Fuller, and Tatum Rowell. One loving Aunt Thelma (Philpot) Jordan. One sister-in-law Maria (Mitchell) Lewis. Four nieces Alana Miller, Carla Allen (Timothy), Tamieka Jones, and Teresa McIntosh. Three nephews Rickey Evans, Shone Trawick (Deceased), and Troy McIntosh, and a host of cousins and friends.
