Joanne Christian (affectionately known as Ms. Monday) was born February 5, 1941, in Akron, Ohio.  She was the second of seven (7) children born to Harry and Thelma Wright.  Joanne quietly departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with her loving son, Omar at her side.

Joanne attended Akron’s elementary Public Schools, and South High School.   She lived life to the fullest.  She never met a stranger, loved people and expressed her love in many ways.  Her smile was filled with so much warmth that it would lighten any room.  She loved to dance, play cards and laugh.  She was an avid bowler who competed and won many trophies. She was employed as a city bus driver as well a s a yellow taxi driver and she was a house keeping engineer at St Mary’s Nursing Facility for many years.  Joanne was raised in a Christian home and attended First Apostolic Faith Church regularly under the leadership of Bishop Francis L. Smith. She loved the Lord, her family and recently re-dedicated her life. She will be truly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry Wright and Thema Satterwhite; Brother, Richard Wright, Grandsons:  Lamar Brooks, Richardo Dawood-Allison.  Granddaughter, JaLisa Buchanan; and husband, James Christian.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving children, Marquita (Steve) Byars, Stephen Mutaali, Lisa (Tony) Horton, Rasheeda (Keith) Poindexter, Cathy Dawood, Omar Dawood. Siblings:  Janice Blair, Charles Wright, Joyce (Gerald) Hilton, Michael Wright, and Debra Douglas.  Ten (10) grandchildren, Eleven (11) Great Grand Children, and six (6) great, great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
