John Albert Garrett, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2020 at the age of 80.
John was born on September 1, 1939 in Talladega, Alabama. He graduated from Talladega High School in 1956. He moved to Akron, Ohio in 1962.
He was a technician for 20 years at U-Haul. He loved his boats, cars and motorcycles. He was a quiet man; someone you could lean on and talk to. He loved his children and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Martha Garrett; brothers, Marvin, David, J.B., Edward and Larry aka “Scooby” Garrett; son-in-law, Mic Nolan; brother-in-law, Bobby Jo Watkins; and sister-in-law, Connie Garrett.
John is survived by his loving children, Martha (Noel), Debbie, Linda (John), Anise, Alvin, Eric aka “Bae”, Anthony (Laquita), Johnny, Tony (Sharyah) and John Jr. (April); sisters, May Charles, Carolyn and Dorothy (Sonny) and brothers, Jerry and Willie; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
John will be sadly missed by all of his children and close friends.
