John Benjamin Franklin passed away on March 23, 2021, while in hospice care in Rittman, OH, at the age of 94. He was born in Atlanta, GA on August 27, 1926, to Frank Franklin and Emma Harlan Franklin. He was raised on his grandparents’ farm, the Famber Farm, in Dalton, GA. He spent most of his adult years in Akron, OH. He served in WWII in the United States Army until 1945 and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal because of his service. He worked as a vehicle transporter until he retired from Fred Goddard Ford, where he transported vehicles to 49 different states. After retirement, he continued to work as a private chauffeur. He was a long-time member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as head of the Security Team.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathy Franklin; brother, Charles Franklin; nephew, Ricky.
He is survived by three sons and a host of grandchildren.
