Mr. John Dixon was born September 20, 1942 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was the middle child to the late Coy Dixon Sr. and Sylvia Dixon. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Odessa Dixon, brothers Coy Dixon Jr. (Phyllis) George Dixon (Late -Sarah).
John attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington, Class of 1960. He served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. He met and married Odessa Dixon on June 30, 1961. To this union were born three children. Donald (Linda) Dixon, Sandy (Eddie) Miller, and Kimberly (Kenny) Jordan. After returning from the army, Odessa and John moved to Cleveland, Ohio where they made their home for over sixty years.
After retiring from Ford Motor Company John took on the trade of construction where he is especially remembered for his skills with a hammer. One of his greatest passions included him being a 32nd degree prince hall Mason, a member of Excelsior Lodge 11. John was also known for his sense of style, large wardrobe, jewelry, and barbecues. With a personality as grand as his heart, he effortlessly commanded attention and filled the lives of those around him with laughter and joy. Never one to shy away from speaking their mind, he embraced life with passion and conviction. His larger than life spirit will be dearly missed.
He leaves lasting memories with his nine grandchildren – Tara Miller, Raymondo Miller, Robin Dixon, Deidra Woods, Bianca Jordan, Sondrea Steele, Simone Banks, Robert Banks Jr., and Cory Jordan; fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very devoted friends.
