Elder Johnnie Barnes, III. was born in Cleveland Ohio on August 27, 1957, to the union of Johnnie Barnes Jr. and Lorraine Beverly Barnes, as the youngest of three children. He was raised in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood. Johnnie attended Cleveland public schools, eventually graduating from Lutheran East High School. Johnnie went on to attend Ohio University where he became a very proud member of The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Johnnie held numerous jobs throughout his life, most notably using his knowledge and computer skill. He was currently employed by Sherwin Williams as an IT specialist. Elder Johnnie gave his life to Christ and was an original member of The Christian Kingdom Assembly church. Johnnie worked lovingly and tirelessly in, around and for the church. Johnnie became recognized as the first official Deacon of the church. There is no doubt that he loved his church family. Johnnie was eventually elevated to the position of Elder within the church by Pastor Monroe Johnson.
Elder Johnnie left his earthly home on Sunday October 19, 2025, with his eyes focused on heaven, where he now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Martin Davis, sister Jacquelyn Barnes and niece La Erica Patterson. He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory his aunt Ozie Barnes (Aunt Sally), nephews Maurice Brown and Wilbert Patterson (Candis), several great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and other family members, his church family, his Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity brothers, many coworkers and friends. Elder Johnnie, you have run your race, you have fought the good fight, take now your rest in Glory. You will be missed!
