Josephine (Diamond) Hedgemon-Winters was born in Greensboro, AL on July 18, 1933 to Gus and Louise Bragg (preceded). Raised by her grandmother, Mary Hedgemon Rudley, Josephine grew up a practicing Baptist and acquired her education at Hale County Training School. At the graceful age of 18, love at first sight led her to meet and marry her beloved forever partner in union, Robert Winters Sr. (preceded), and welcomed their five children: Geraldine, Robert Earl Jr. (Gwendolyn), Riley Mack (Brenda), Patricia Ann (preceded), and Gilbert (Jeanetta).
Josephine treasured spending quality time with her family and friends, and raised three generations of Winters children. She made certain all of her grandchildren knew and embraced one another while spending weekends at her home. In her spare time, Josephine enjoyed bingo, taking trips to casinos, cooking, laughing and sharing her bold sense of humor, dancing to her favorite musical artists, and simply loving life. Every moment in Diamond’s presence was a gift.
Josephine transfers her ancestral frequency to her brother Gus Jr., Edgar (Al) & Debra of Greensboro AL, and Don & Jean of Cleveland, OH: and sisters Ann McPherson, Willie Mae Hines, Mary Bragg, Franklyn Cannon, and Robin Bragg of Greensboro, AL. She’ll also be remembered by her grandchildren: Romelle Andre, Ramon Elan, Chandra ChaVi, Robert Erle III, Ricardo Germelle, India Denae, VanDarrel Kyle, Tierney Monique, Greg Wilson, Herbert Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Devin Simmons; several beautiful nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Josephine is preceded by her siblings Vylener Travis, Hattie Sampson, Chester Bragg; her daughter Patricia Ann; and her beloved husband Robert Sr.
