Joyce J. Murray was born on May 18, 1939, in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Georgia and James Cloud Sr.
She attended Bryant Elementary, Jennings Middle School, and South High Schools. She was baptized at United Baptist Church by Reverend Rodrick Pounds and attended The House of the Lord. She worked as a bartender and waitress in Akron and Cleveland.
Joyce loved music. Some of her favorite songs were by Earth Wind & Fire, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Michael Jackson, and many more. She also loved to draw, color, and bake cakes. She was a basketball and football fan, with her favorite teams being the Cleveland Browns and any team that Lebron James played for; and would bet anyone that gave her a challenge. She loved Bible study, surrounded by friends and family.
Joyce loved to sit and talk to her children and grandchildren about life and life’s lessons. She would also say, “don’t take no wooden nickels” and “tomorrow will be a better day.” She would sing songs with her daughter, on the phone, “I will always love my mama” and “Mama, you know I love you…” by Boyz II Men and “Let Me Show You the Way to Go” by Michael Jackson & the Jackson Five. She would tell her grandson to “hang in there” as she took great care of him when he was sick.
