Julius “Mike” McBride, 88 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 20, 2017.
Julius was born in Pensacola FL., to Henry and Julia McBride. He was a resident of Akron for 60 years. Julius was employed at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, retiring from Donzell’s Flower and Garden Center.
Julius enjoyed gardening and frequently received the Beautification Watch Award for his well-maintained lawn. Julius had a great sense of humor. He could break the ice in virtually any social environment through telling jokes. Julius was a member of The House of the Lord and a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Beverly Jones; siblings, Joe Reed, Gertrude Miller, Ruth Blanco, Henri Mae McBride, Herrington “Pete” McBride, Sr., Willie McBride, June Ingram, Gwendolyn “Mickie” Giles and Harold McBride.
Julius leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 54 years, Irene; daughter, Angela Jones; step-daughters, Anita Arrington and LaVon McKinney; grandchildren, Barry Jones, Marcus Jones Sr., Jana Prince, Staci Nevels, Scott Arrington and Brock Arrington, great-grandchildren, Marcus Jones, Jr., Morgan Frye, Alex Arrington and Chelsie Arrington; sister, Dinah Cole of Los Angeles CA; brother-in-law, Thomas McCorvey; special nephews, Reggie Pryear, Norman Ingram Jr., Lyle Ingram and Zachary Palmer; special nieces, Judy Reed, Lawanna Guiterrez, Mahalia Palmer, Chenette Cole; cousins, James Johnson and Mildred Powell; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
