Kairo Asher Goode-Ransome, age 1-year-old, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Akron Children’s Hospital. He was born June 27, 2017, in Akron, to Kiev Ransome and Alaina Goode.
His parents chose his name due to the meanings they held and Kairo embodied them to the fullest. His middle name “Asher” is a biblical name meaning “happy” and Kairo truly was the happiest baby around. In the midst of all his trials and sickness, he never lost his playful, happy personality. He touched the hearts of everybody he came in contact with through his infectious laugh (and of course his “gummy bear” cheeks you just couldn’t help, but to nibble on) and has made a huge impact on the lives of many. Kairo spent most of his days watching his favorite movies (Trolls and Moana), playing on his toy drum set, and never letting go of his favorite toy (the infamous Learning Toucan).
His first name “Kairo” is Arabic for “the victorious one” and he was nothing short of victorious. He fought a battle no child should have to fight with the most resilience and perseverance anyone could ever ask of him. He was a blessing to all and now has the honor and the privilege of wearing his Victor’s Crown with the God we all wish to see one day.
He is survived by his parents, Kiev and Alaina; Grandparents, Rev. Kevin and Faye Goode, Jada Ransome, and Dana Rivers; Great Grandparents, Alonzo Ransome Sr., Don Rivers, Donna Rivers, Rev. Eloise Morgan, and Vivian Parker; Aunts, Renita Alexander, Monique Ransome, and Justus Rivers; Uncles, Kevin Goode and Derek Jaiden Ransome-Fromby; and a host of cousins and other relatives who all loved their “baby Kairo” so dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bodas, Dr. Patel, Dr. Vargo, Heather Lanfranchi, and all the nurses on the Hematology/Oncology floor at Akron Children’s Hospital for their compassionate care of our precious Kairo.
