Kameika Lakeisha Bruce

March 10, 1982 – March 31, 2026

Kameika Lakeisha Bruce was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1982, in Kingston, Jamaica, to the union of Wade Bruce and Beverene Brelba. From an early age, Kameika embodied warmth, determination, and a vibrant spirit that would touch countless lives.

She attended school in Jamaica before migrating to the United States, where she continued her education at Collinwood (CMSD). Kameika later earned a degree in Business Management from Bowling Green State University, where she also became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., an organization that reflected her commitment to service and sisterhood.

In 2005, Kameika began her professional career with Enterprise as a Rental Replacement Representative. While she loved her work, Kameika was a woman of boundless energy—always motivated, always on the move, and always seeking purpose beyond herself.

Her Jamaican culture was central to who she was. Kameika was deeply committed to giving back, frequently donating to causes and schools in Jamaica. Her involvement with the Jamaican Cultural Association (JCA) opened doors—not only for her, but for many others. Serving as a Public Relations Officer, she initiated and oversaw a yearly scholarship program for college-bound students, working tirelessly to ensure its success.

She also served as Midwest Regional Vice President for the National Association of Jamaican and Supportive Organizations, where she became a force to be reckoned with. Kameika was always ready and willing to support the organization both locally and nationally traveling to places such as Toledo, Detroit, Maryland, New York, and beyond. Wherever service was needed, Kameika showed up.

Kameika was known for her positive attitude, creativity, and self-reliance. She was the kind of friend everyone wished for—trustworthy, caring, and endlessly supportive. Fondly referred to as the “mama” of her group, she was always checking in and offering guidance:
“Shamar and KiKi do this.”
“ GuGu do that.”

“Damesha how many times do I have to tell you?”
“Alisa, are you listening?”

No matter the time, Kameika was ready to listen, provide encouragement, and share kind words and thoughtful advice.

She had a deep love for the outdoors, especially during the summer months. Gardening brought her joy, and she lovingly tended to her tulips and lavender. Kameika adored the beach and often encouraged family and friends to travel with her to places filled with sea, sand, and breathtaking scenery.

A lover of Jamaican cuisine, her favorite dish was oxtails with rice and beans. It was common for her to lovingly ask Aunty Sharon if she could “pretty please” make oxtails for Sunday dinner—moments filled with laughter and affection that will forever be cherished.

As Kameika’s health began to decline, she held tightly to her love of the outdoors. She would create lists of places she wanted to visit one more time, often asking Uncle Len if he could “pretty please” take her and Aunty Sharon there. One of her most treasured memories—one she spoke of often—was a visit to a vineyard in Geneva, Ohio, where they spent an entire day joyfully picking grapes and savoring life together.

Today, we gather not only in sorrow, but in deep gratitude for the life of a truly remarkable woman. Kameika Lakeisha Bruce’s presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence leaves a space that words can scarcely fill. Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life. Her spirit lives in our hearts, our memories, and in the way we love one another. May we honor her by living with the same compassion, strength, generosity, and joy that she so effortlessly shared with the world.

Kameika Lakeisha Bruce will forever be loved, cherished, and remembered by her mother Beverene, father Wade, her siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, her loving goddaughters, extended family, and a wide circle of devoted friends.
