Karen Faye Tate, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2022.
Karen Faye Tate was born August 17, 1954, in Cleveland Ohio to Nehemiah and Leola (Coleman) Tate. She was the fifth and youngest of the Tate children. As the youngest, she enjoyed the benefit of her parents more lenient parenting and the attention of older siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Raymond. She leaves behind her son James Jamil Stanfield, of Houston, TX, (Lashaunta), and their sons Jamarcus Stanfield, Ormonnie Young, daughter Raleigh Stanfield and her great grandson Jaire Stanfield. Karen is survived by her siblings, brother James, (Diane), Michael, (Sandra), and her sister Patricia Adams, (Thomas) to mourn her.
She will also be missed by her niece Taryn Adams Twiggs (Sheldon), great niece Ryn Twiggs, and a host of cousins and friends.
Karen worked for the State of Ohio assisting and helping those needing transitional housing. Karen had a unique understanding of their situation and oversaw each case with compassion and care. Karen also had a desire to experience life in other parts of the country and move to Houston, Texas where she met a host of new friends and experiences. She returned briefly to Cleveland to have her one an only child James Jamil. After several years in Houston Karen felt the need to be close to her childhood home in Cleveland, Ohio and moved back home.
Upon retirement from her position with the State of Ohio and her health taking a turn for the worst Karen felt the climate in Houston would be better suited to her health conditions and to be closer to her only child and grandchildren. With her health failing and the prospect of limited recovery Karen again returned home seeking the shelter of familiar surroundings in Cleveland, Ohio. She remained in Cleveland until her health took a turn for the worst and she fell ill and had to be hospitalized until her passing.
