Kathleen Johnson-Marsh went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2018. She was born on August 4, 1930, to Mary E. and William E. Donaldson in Wellsburg, West Virginia. Kathleen Johnson-Marsh went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2018. She was born on August 4, 1930, to Mary E. and William E. Donaldson in Wellsburg, West Virginia. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, David Moncree. After graduation from Powhatah High School, she attended and graduated from Duff’s Iron City Business College in Pittsburgh, Pa., then returned to Powhatan and worked for four years at the Belmont County Court House as Deputy Auditor in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized on the banks of the Ohio River. She came to Akron in 1956 and joined Phillips Chapel C.M.E Church. She helped organized the Junior Church while serving as Junior Supervisor. She was a senior usher, missionary member, and worked the Food Pantry, maintained records for the membership register, as well as served on a variety of committees. She graduated from The University of Akron with a Business Administration Degree. After 28 years of service, Kathleen retired from the Akron Community Service Center as an Administrative Assistant and Assistant to the Executive Director.
She is a Quarter Century Club member of the National Urban League and a life member of the NAACP. Kathleen was a former Assistant Treasurer and member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), Tire Town Chapter for more than 40 years.
She was a treasurer for Akron & Summit County Federation of Women’s Club for 12 years and remained an active member until her death. In 1998, she co-founded and organized the Golden Hearts Senior group and was president for multiple years.
In 1972, she was co-organizer of the Phillips Chapel Bowling League and continued in the league until 2008. She served as the past president of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association (ICUA), she remained a member, served as trustee and scholarship chairman.
Kathleen is preceded in death by; mother, Mary Moncree, father, William Donaldson Sr., stepfather, David Moncree, sisters, Mary Ellen, Ida May, brother, William Jr. She leaves to mourn her death; husband Earl Marsh, sons Michael (Kimberly) Houston, Texas, Henry (Ruth) Green, Ohio, David, Streetsboro, Ohio, Marcellus (Angela) Akron, Ohio, sister, Loretta Spinner, brother, Robert Donaldson. nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
