Katie Edwards-Neal was born on January 1, 1921, on St Simons Island Georgia to the late Clarence Ramsey Sr. and Frances Stewart Ramsey. Katie was loved by everyone who met her. Katie was never too busy to offer a kind word to everyone she met.
Katie attended Harrington School on the island. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and baptized at First African Baptist Church on the island. Katie enjoyed singing in the choir. She became a member of 2nd Metropolitan Baptist Church in Cleveland and later joined Faith Fellowship Church. Katie made sure she instilled in her children at an early age the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Katie was 103 years old when she passed and was the last remaining member of her siblings. Katie is preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Katie moved to Cleveland Ohio during the early 1950’s. Katie was the mother of four children: Clarence Louis Edwards (deceased), Lutricia Rogers, Carolyn Jones, and Peggy Wright.
Katie retired from Cuyahoga Community College after 30 years of service. She made many life-long friends while working at the college.
Katie met and married Howard Neal who preceded her in death.
Katie’s favorite hobbies were dancing, shopping, and sewing. She enjoyed baking cakes and pies for her family. Katie was also an excellent southern cook.
Katie leaves behind three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lutricia Roger (Nabil Shahin), Carolyn Jones (Robert), Peggy Wright, eleven grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, and four living nieces.
