Katina Marie McKinnie was born March 18, 1962, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Herbert Norris and Myrtle Brown. “Tina” was an extraordinary and loving woman who received her wings on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer.
Tina graduated from Zanesville High School, after which she pursued numerous career paths, including business administration and cosmetology. She married her husband, Roveail “Paul” McKinnie, on September 26, 1995. After resettling in Northeast Ohio, they welcomed two sons, Jalen and Jaren McKinnie.
Tina was incredibly passionate about children, dedicating well over a decade to being a mother before obtaining her nursing aide certification and working at Akron Children’s Hospital and Copley High School, where she counseled and comforted any student in need.
Tina loved God and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, she prayed that God would allow her to see her sons grow into decent and productive young men. Tina was a loyal member of Tower of Prayer Church.
Tina is preceded in death by her parents Myrtle Brown, Eugene Brown, and Herbert Norris.
She is survived by her husband, Roveail McKinnie; sons, Jalen Roveail McKinnie and Jaren Alexander McKinnie; her sisters, Janice Crenshaw, Beverly Norris, Stephanie Norris, Kathy Coleman, Brenda Newman, and Victoria Norris; her brothers, Herbert Larry Norris and Greg Allen Norris; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
