Kenneth A. Bowman Jr. was born April 10, 1967, to Rose and Kenneth Sr. He spent his formative years in East Cleveland and moved to Bedford Heights when he entered middle school. Ken graduated from Bedford Heights High School in 1986. After graduation, Ken began his career as an over-the-road truck driver for Snyder National. After years of service, Ken went on to earn his associate’s degree from Ohio Technical College. Upon completion of his degree, he was employed by Marous Brothers Construction as an IT Specialist. After five years of service with them, Ken began his career at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was last employed before his passing. Ken worked for the Cleveland Clinic for 17 years and ended his career as a Senior Cyber Security Specialist. Ken also held the distinguished position of top-tier IT person for his family and friends. He utilized his skills to help his non-technical sister-in-law when her email was hacked, and he constantly assisted his mother-in-law when she couldn’t get her tablet out of airplane mode.
In July of 1995, the stars aligned, and Kenneth met Angela. They were both otherwise spoken for but were part of a group that solidified their friendship. In November of that year, Ken lost his mother, Rose, and because Angela had been raised right, she sent him a card expressing her condolences. In December of that year, Angela needed a safe date for her company Christmas party. John (Susong), a member of the friends’ group, suggested she take his cousin. She responded, “The truck driver?” Ken agreed to accompany her to the party, and they have been together ever since. On September 20, 1996, they became husband and wife. On March 18, 1998, their union produced their pride and joy Austin J (Arya S.) Bowman.
Ken was an avid gamer, train enthusiast, RC helicopter and car racer. He enjoyed a good restaurant, “a true foodie”. He also enjoyed a good bourbon and let us not forget his cigar. Ken loved listening to music and spending quiet time with his family. He was beloved as Uncle Ken by all his nieces and nephews. He made his mission that they each were part of his annual pumpkin carving escapades every Halloween. It was a tradition when Austin was young that all the nephews came to Uncle Ken’s and Aunt Angie’s for sleepovers that included staying up all night and sleeping all over the living room floor. Uncle Ken was beloved.
Ken grew up as the middle child between two sisters, his big sister Bonnie and his little sister Cathy. He managed to torture them both as the only boy. He was a great brother to his sisters and prided himself on being there for them both. Ken’s love of family included both his immediate family and his extended family. He spent time with his brothers-in-laws, usually discussing “the sisters.”
Ken loved his wife with fierceness and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. He also loved his son with that same passion. He was proud of Austin (Arya) and all his accomplishments. He was most proud that he raised his son to love his mother and protect her at all costs. Ken would be so proud to know Austin (Arya) has maintained that role today.
