Kenneth Lorenzo Marshall was born on February 14, 1939, to the parents of James and Elizabeth Marshall in Cleveland, Ohio. He obtained his education from Cleveland schools. He enlisted in the Armed Forces of United States, Marine Corp and served for 3 years. Kenneth retired from the City of Cleveland after 25 years of outstanding service where he worked as a heavy-duty mechanic until the year 2000. He departed this life heaven bound on February 13, 2024.
Kenneth married his beautiful wife Gwendolyn 55 years ago. They shared four children Tyrone, Tamina, Tonya, and Ken. He also was responsible for the care of his nieces Linda, Darlene, and Rosalyn after the loss of their mother. He was a big family person and played an integral part in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Kenneth was a man of God. He loved walking with the lord and going to church. He spent time reading and studying the word of God. He had a strong prayer life and would often share his knowledge of the gospel with family and friends. He was a man of knowledge, wisdom, discipline, and order. Kenneth was stern, firm but loving and supportive. He was smart about managing finances, his concept of money was “if you make a dime save a nickel” and if you needed him, he was there.
Kenneth served on the Usher Board and the Board of Trustee at his home church Open Door Missionary Baptist Church for over 11 years. He also served on the transportation bus ministry.
He was stylish and loved to dress. He enjoyed being surrounded by beautiful things, often seen working in the yard, or taking a road trip to see family for reunions and gatherings. He was a self-taught handyman who fixed his properties, buses, and cars. He was an excellent craftsman with wood. Kenneth showed love for his African heritage by collecting African art, clothing, and artifacts.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son Tyrone Marshall, parents James and Elizabeth Marshall, siblings, Hazel Clark, Lois Shuford, Herbert & William Marshall.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory and legacy of love.
