Kenneth W. Simmons was born October 19, 1940, in Akron, Ohio. He was born to Wesley and Elizabeth Simmons. He went to South High School where he met his wife, Flo. They married on October 20, 1962, and with this union there was one child.
Kenny worked numerous jobs in construction. Asphalt and concrete before working for W.G. Lockhart as a cement truck driver. Everyone knew him by the Candy Stripped Cement Mixer. He would go on to work for H.B. Lockhart and then Horning where he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 348.
Kenny was known for his sense of humor. He was the life of the party, always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He loved his cars and dual exhaust; Kenny had to have 2 pipes on all his vehicles! This is where he got one of his nicknames, Papa2Pipes! He loved going to Ann’s Place or as he would call it, “The Liars Club,” to be with his friends and have coffee. He loved his family and friends.
To all that knew him and whatever you may have called him: Grandad, Uncle Kenny, Buddy, Dogg, Papa Dogg, GG, Fatty – just to name a few, he is smiling and laughing and will be truly, truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Elizabeth Fann; and sister, Annie Mae Dirden.
