Kevin Leneal Harvey was born August 30, 1971, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to the late Gary Harvey & Claudine Burkhalter-Harvey. He was the eldest of three children born to that union.
Kevin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Glenville Holiness Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio. He later joined Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on October 12, 2014, where he was a faithful member for the past ten years. He was known for wearing his Cleveland Browns Jersey to church on game day Sundays for extra prayers for his favorite team, the Browns!
Kevin attended the Cleveland Public School System where he played football and basketball. He graduated from Lincoln West High School in 1990. He later earned his Associate’s Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) from a Technical College.
Kevin worked in the Asphalt business for many years with his late father Gary, the KING of asphalt, who taught him all the tricks of the trade. Kevin was also known for doing security work, which is how he later met the love of his life Carla. He was hired with the City of Cleveland in 2018, where he was a well admired foreman and coworker to many at the Bridges & Docks and Illegal Dumping Divisions. In September of 2023, Kevin was honored to receive the Mayor’s City Innovator Award from Mayor Justin M. Bibb while working with the Public Works Illegal Dumping Team. Kevin remained a loyal employee until his passing.
Kevin Loved ALL Cleveland sports teams and was a diehard Cleveland’s Brown Fan. He was known for throwing the biggest tailgate parties with his 4-man crew: Himself, DJ Ellery, TeeBamm & Young Redd. Kevin was a gentle giant and was truly the life of the party. He called himself a “music connoisseur” as he loved all genres of music. He was also light on his feet, and not a bad dancer. The love Kevin had for his family was indescribable, but his nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart. Although he could be a “meany” at times to all the kids, they loved their Uncle Kevin. He was also a great cook, and when following many of his mother’s southern Louisiana recipes; he made them all to perfection.
To know Kevin was to love him, as he never met a stranger. He was well known throughout the City of Cleveland and had life-long affiliations with the British Knight Boys, The Massie Bulldogs, Club 802, The Black Love is Dope Group and the 8-Committee (2.28) just to name a few. Needless to say, Kevin had many friends.
Kevin met Carla Wright in 2012, and later married her on May 23, 2015, making her his Mrs. Harvey. They became Team Harvey with their newly blended family of five. They loved traveling together, cooking with & for each other, and definitely watching all of their favorite television series together. Whether it was watching the Marvel Movies Series with Mark, talking about the latest tennis shoes with Cayla, or talking basketball with Chris, they made their little family unit work.
Kevin was called home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Harvey; His grandparents, Claudia & Mildred Burkhalter and George & Freddie Mae Harvey.
