Lana E. Hill was born on March 31, 1957, in the Parish of Port Antonio. Portland Jamacia, to Lilian Passley and Herbert McFarlane, both preceded her in death. Lana was very proud of her native heritage.
As a young adult Lana relocated to the United States of America, applying for the naturalization process to become a naturalized citizen of the U.S. She would often share her story of the process. The months of studying the history and learning the Pledge of Allegiance. She had a military background, and took great pride in folding the flag. She made, Ohio her home, residing in Garfield Heights.
Lana confessed Christ at an early age. While in her new home in the U.S.A, she joined the Warrensville Road Community Baptist Church and became a faithful Charter Member. Lana was a true disciple of Christ leading her children as they grew. She was a true worshiper, the church financial secretary for over ten years, a member of the Usher Board, a Trustee, as well as being involved in the Music Ministry and Women’s Fellowship Ministry. Lana attended a Women’s Conference a few years ago and was given a woman superhero action figure. She proudly displayed on her desk reminding herself as being a Super Woman.
Lana attended the University of Technology in Jamaica, graduating with a certificate in Management Studies and attended Cuyahoga Community College pursing Computer Studies.
When she migrated to the US, she brought her 16-year banking career history with her from Jamaica. She was employed with Dollar and Key Banks, with over 25 years of customer service and management. After leaving the banking industry, she embarked on a second career in the funeral industry with Calhoun Funeral Home where she was the Insurance Specialist / Notary and processed the certificates of death.
Lana’s most treasured memories was being a mother of four biological children: two adopted daughters, and especially her 5 grandchildren. She lit up the room when she spoke of her grands. She would share their births, their first steps, and many fond family gatherings, on her Facebook page with the staff, it was her morning paper catching up on the children and grands; with her many vacations to Florida, Jamacia, and wherever, Sergeant Willis Jr., would be, sharing his many military accomplishments.
She was classy, she loved fashion, traveling, and most recently learned to line dance.
Lana leaves to cherish her memories to her six children: Howard, Lisa, Tracy, Willis Jr., and two adopted daughters Allison and Rihanna. Grandchildren, sisters, brothers, sons & daughters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends her church family and her Calhoun Funeral Home family
