Larry Taylor, born on October 19, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Christmas Eve, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and creativity. Larry was the cherished son of Hattie Platt and William Taylor. After the loss of both parents by the age of 11, Larry and his sisters were lovingly raised by his Aunt Estelle and Julius Harper in Pittsburgh before later relocating to Cleveland, Ohio.
A proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, Larry continued his education at Cuyahoga Community College. Guided by a strong sense of duty and patriotism, he joined the Air Force and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Larry began a remarkable career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for more than 40 years and retired as an Electronic Technician, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Photography was Larry’s true passion. He found joy in capturing family events and generously shared his talents by photographing weddings and special occasions. His keen eye and artistic touch brought happiness to many, and his photographs became treasured keepsakes for family and community members alike. Larry was also a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and his enthusiasm for the game was unmatched.
In 1985, Larry met and married Cathy Yarbrough. Together, they welcomed their beloved son in 1999, Brandon. Larry retired from the postal service in 2012 and continued to pursue his passion for photography wholeheartedly.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother Hattie, father William, and a host of dear aunts and uncles. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Cathy; his son Brandon; his sisters Francine, Peggy (Charles), as well as nieces and a nephew, Taylor, Charmayne, Selena, and Edward. Larry’s friendship will also be fondly remembered by his friends and co-workers in Cleveland. Larry’s internment will be at Restland Lincoln Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
