Latifah Hameen Muhammad, departed her life on Monday February 12,2024 with Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care, at 11:05pm.
Latifah was born on March 17, 1939, to Clarence and Ruby Bowen. She was the oldest of 11 siblings :Calvin, Clarence Jr, Daisy, Johnny, Josephine, Adam, Jerome, Roy, Kathrina, and Angie. Latifah attended La Grange Georgia’s, school system in the 1950’s. She was born Dorothy lee Bowen A.K.A Annie to all her friends and family. Later, Latifah met Booker T Iverson and they married on August 4,1956 in La Grange Georgia. Latifah then relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where they jointly raised eight children: Elizabeth, Judy, Booker, George, Hope, Eddie, Lucinda, and Shelia. With a short term career at D.O. Summers with making the decision to be a homemaker and provider to dedicate more of her time raising her children. Latifah later joined the of the Nation of Islam, following Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Louis Farrakhan as her leader since 1969 and later was given the honor to change her name to Muhammad in 2012. One thing we all can agree about Latifah is she will give you her last, and if she didn’t have it, she will find a way to get it, but she did not believe in sparing the rod to spoil the child, not on her watch!
Latifah, found joy in cooking, baking, playing cards and bingo. She had a total of eight children that she provided for and will be deeply missed by her.
Latifah leaves to mourn her children Elizabeth (Earnest), George, Hope, Eddie, Lucinda, and Shelia (Keith) All of (Ohio). Latifah is also survived by her siblings Clarence Jr., Daisy, Johnny, Josephine, Adam, Katherine and Angie, all Ohio.
Latifah leaves behind her 21 grandchildren, Regina, Kaamilya, Tommy, Denise, Latifah, Louise, Booker Jr., Aesha, Basheema, Elijah, Gregory, Champaign, Devine, Ellis, Liz, Sierra, Monikia, Mathew, Naeem, Kachief and KeKe and she has 50 great grandchildren children and 2 great great grandchild and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her children Judy Mae and Booker T Jr., as well as her siblings Jerome, Calvin, and Roy.
Latifah warm presence and love for her family will forever be cherished.
