Latonia Lynette Williams was born on November 29, 1971 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the first of 4 children born to the union of Luther and Chestina Williams. She attended Cleveland Public Schools from grades K-11, and then graduated from Maple Hts. High School where she finished her last year. She attended Akron University for one year, and then decided to go into the workforce. Latonia was employed at places such as Finest, Best Products, Airport Business Center, First Merit Bank, and as a receptionist at Dr. Johnny Erkins’ office for a number of years.
Latonia grew up in the church from a baby into her adulthood. However, it was while working at the Airport Business Center that her relationship with Jesus Christ became truly intimate. A co-worker there invited Latonia to a women’s retreat and, after attending it, her life was forever changed. Her relationship with the Lord transformed from knowing about Him, to actually knowing Him. At the age of 21 she married Eric Jones and from this union was born her beloved only child, Tasha Jones (affectionately known as “TJay”). Despite the challenges of soon becoming a single mother, her walk of faith continued to grow.
Latonia was a true servant, doing anything in her power to help anyone that she met in need, even at her own expense. She devoted her life to honoring her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her greatest passion and burden were to see souls come to salvation through Christ. She was a vibrant witness everywhere she went. Whether she was speaking with customer service on the phone, a cashier at a store, or a stranger she would meet, she would end the conversation by saying “Jesus Saves”!
She became a member of the Bedford Church of the Nazarene in 2020 where she immediately felt welcomed and was allowed to flourish in her giftedness. Out of her deep compassion for the sick, shut-in, and those in nursing homes, she diligently headed and enhanced the “Compassionate Hearts Ministry” at the church. In addition to this, she served with multiple other ministries, including Meals on Wheels, Ministry of Reconciliation, Convoy of Hope, and War International which focuses on creating awareness, and the rescue, of human trafficking victims.
Latonia was faithful to God and He was faithful to her by granting her a desire of her heart. As God would have it, after 30 years apart, she reconnected with her childhood best friend, William Davis. After a 5-year courtship they were married on August 25, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her dearly loved husband William Davis, her parents Luther and Chestina Williams, her treasured daughter Tasha Jones, her sister Rolanda Williams, brothers Quintin (Te’Shawn) Williams, and Nathan (Brandy) Williams. She was a loving Tee Tee to her 7 nieces and nephews: Jaylen, Ja’Niya, Shalea, Chloe, Leah, Levi, and Zaia-to whom she faithfully dedicated her time to babysit from 3 months old until
she departed this life. She will be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, BFF Lisa Walker, a host of beloved friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Latonia was one of the most kind, generous, friendly, loving, and compassionate people you could ever meet. She had a smile that could light up a room and your heart. And she truly reflected the light and love of Christ.
