Lavearn Irene Norwood was born on December 7th, 1940, to Frank McQueen Sr. and Alpha J. McQueen. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in the Outhwaite neighborhood area. She was the only daughter out of three siblings. She attended Cleveland Public Schools. She was once married to Albert Norwood, Sr. where they had 7 loving children: Lynn, Larry, Albert Jr., Catherine, David, Sharon, and Raymond (Shantele).
Lavearn was a devoted woman of Christ and was a hard worker. She worked various jobs within Minute Man Temp Agency and later worked as the neighborhood “Candy Lady” for 30+ years in the store within Cascade Lounge, where she later retired. She was a very stylish lady who knew how to dress to impress and loved to shop and window shop. She had a deep love for spending time with family and friends and had a passion for caring for others.
God called Lavearn home on April 3, 2024, where she was surrounded by love and her family. She fought a good fight and blessed us with a beautiful 83 years. Lavearn was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be truly missed.
Preceding in her death are her parents, Frank Sr., and Alpha McQueen, her three brothers, Frank McQueen Jr., Leroy McQueen, and James Curtis “Bra” McQueen, her two loving sons, Lynn Norwood and Albert Norwood Jr., and her grandson Malcom Rayshawn Norwood. Lavearn leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories of her loving children, Larry Norwood, Catherine Norwood, David Norwood, Sharon Norwood, and Raymond (Shantele) Norwood. Her loving grandchildren, Angela, Laura (Anthony), Casey, Raymond, Quiena, Tiarra, Joyce, and Larry Jr. Her nieces, Regina and Rita, her nephews, Gregory and Stephon McQueen and a host of great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
