On May 16, 2016, Laverne won her battle and was called home to her Eternal Glory by God.
Laverne leaves to cherish her memory to her two daughters, Lickico Sims (Alonzo) and Shekeisha Sims-Parker (Taurus) and Daclassie Sims (Chris) which whom she looked upon as a son. Seven grandchildren: Jevon P, Isaiah P, Autumn H, Treasure H, Kiarra P, MiAngel S, and Kianna P. Two brothers: Richard Sims and Victor Sims, sister: Lafayne Sims (John), aunts: Betty Smith, Millie Daughtery and Louise Nix, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
