Lawrence “Chop” Hale, born April 22, 1949, was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at the age of 77

About Chop’s Life…

Per his request,

“If you knew me then you know what goes here!”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Avistine Hale; his sister, Vernell (Hale) Brown; his brothers, Curtis, Earl, Eddie, Calvin, and Howard Hale; and his beloved grandson, Jerome Garrison.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Avistine Parker, Ramonia, Ebony, Danisha, Alexis, Ivorie, and Steve (Jerri) Garrison; his siblings, Mernell Hale, Gwendolyn Davis and Ralph Hale; his longtime partner, Renee Dawkins; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

I have always heard his voice in my head and the reminder of Uncle Chop calling me lil chief. I remember how much he loved his daughters, he set a fine example of being a protector!! I did not know him as good as the rest, but look forward to getting to know uncle chop even better in the future! Until then Uncle Chop REST in eternal peace!! My condolences and love to my family!!!

I'm so very sorry for the loss of Beloved "Chop". Sending my heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family at this very difficult time. Rest peacefully.

This weekend, we gather with heavy hearts to say goodbye to my beloved father. There are no words that can truly express how deeply we will miss him. He was not only my father, but someone whose love, guidance, strength, and presence shaped my life in ways I will carry with me forever. I will miss his voice, his stories, his laughter, and the simple moments we shared. I will miss knowing that he was there. But even though he is no longer with us, the love he gave us will never leave. His memories will live on in our hearts, in our family, and in the lessons, he taught us. Dad, thank you for everything you gave me—for your love, your sacrifices, your wisdom, and for being my father. I wish I could have had more time with you, but I will always be grateful for the time we were given. Rest peacefully, Dad. You will never be forgotten. I love you, and I will carry you with me for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, may you rest in eternal peace.
