Leon Gerald Henderson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 4, 1943 to the parents of the late Moses Henderson and Marian Hall Henderson.
At an early age Leon joined St. Paul Methodist Church, where he can regularly attended Church Services, Sunday school and Youth retreats. Even as an adult, he expressed fond memories of his experience at St. Paul. Leon graduated from John Hay High School and began his working career at Stouffer as a Supervisor. Leon later worked at Beechbrook and also became a Foster parent. Leon was also an Entrepreneur where he owned The Sunoco Gas Station in Cleveland Heights. He later became an independent carrier with the Plain Dealer where he served faithfully for 36 years. During Leon’s last 3 years with the Plain Dealer, he and Marlene work worked side by side delivering the paper in the wee hours of the morning and there was never a dull moment. He was an avid sports fan who loved all the Cleveland Sports, especially The Cleveland Browns.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 25 years, Marlene. His son Paul. 2 daughters, Karmilla Afzal, Alexis (Femi, Sr.) Adeptian and son Cameron (Khadijah) Afzal; Brother, Willie Henderson; Sister, Marlene Iverson. All of Cleveland, Ohio. Brothers, James (Jean) Jones II, Dwight Jones; Sister, Sharon (Craig) Cortner. All of Dayton, Ohio. Along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including The Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church.
