Mr. Leonard Stanley, 70, of Petersburg, Virginia departed this life Saturday, May 9, 2020 at his residence. Leonard was born June 19, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late, McKinney Stanley and Pauline Jolly.
Leonard attended East Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He later joined the United States Army. While serving in Vietnam, Leonard was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. Leonard worked as Correctional Officer for over twenty years. He worked at several Federal Bureau of Prisons to include: Federal Penitentiary in New York, New York; Federal Correctional, Terre Haute, Indiana and the Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg, VA. Some of his hobbies included: fishing, jogging, photography and studying history.
Along with his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by four brothers, James Stanley, Oscar Stanley, Larry Stanley and Charles Stanley and his sister, Bernice Barnes.
Leonard leaves to cherish his memories his children, Sabrina Abdullah (Harson) of Chagrin Falls, OH, Leonard Stanley II (Kisha) of Bainbridge, OH, Dolores Smith of Euclid, OH, Isaac Dunbar of Terre Haute, IN, Tosha Rose (Patrick) of Coolidge, AZ and Kennan Stanley-Bey of Lier, Belgium; eighteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Stanley (Deloris) of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Joneeta Wright of Cleveland Heights, OH; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
