Leondas Nash Sr. was born in Demopolis, Alabama on January 15th, 1937, to Frank Nash Sr.(deceased) and Dessie Davis(deceased). He was given the nickname Grandson by his grandfather Ples Lewis and his mother affectionately called him Son. He was the last living child of four children born to their union. There were 2 brothers Frank Nash Jr.(deceased)(Marie Nash(deceased)) and Ples Nash Sr. (deceased)(Minnie Nash) and 1 sister Hortensia Nash Brown(deceased)(Joe Brown(deceased)). He had many half-siblings (including Earnest Nash(deceased), Lewis Nash, Lee Rowser, Luke Nash and others whose names we may not know, but we do not hesitate to make an honorable mention.
Upon leaving Demopolis as a young boy, Leondas landed first in Canton Ohio where he lived for a period of time with his mother’s relatives. In the early 1950s he settled in Cleveland Ohio and around 1955 Leondas met and married Elizabeth Banks. Three beautiful children were born to this union: Carlton Nash (Melody), Debra Nash and Leondas Nash Jr.(Essie Carrol Nash)(deceased). Their marriage was dissolved after nearly 15 years.
Subsequently, Leondas met and married Alice V Kaiser Cobb Ward (deceased). To their union was born one beautiful daughter Bridgette M Nash Curry(Leonard Curry) and they were a blended family as Alice had 3 beautiful daughters from a previous marriage: Bernadette Smith(Joseph Smith) Sherri L Cobb and Debra Cobb. Leondas and Alice resided in East Cleveland where they spent the rest of their lives together.
Leondas worked for United Screw and Bolt as a foreman/plant engineer. He was the only one who had firsthand knowledge and understood how to manage every department within the plant/factory. United Screw and Bolt shut its doors permanently not long after Leondas retired.
Leondas gave his life to Christ and was baptized at True Gospel Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of his brother and pastor the Honorable Frank Nash Jr. He eventually moved his membership to True Holiness Temple where he faithfully served in various areas of ministry under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Albert E Dixon Sr.(deceased), until health issues prohibited him from active duty.
