Lewis Alfred Lipscomb Jr., 65, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1960, to Betty Jo Bell, and the late Lewis A. Lipscomb Sr.
Lewis graduated from Max S. Hayes High School in 1978, where he studied auto mechanics and discovered his lifelong passion. A true genius with cars, there wasn’t a vehicle he couldn’t fix or rebuild. He began his mechanic career at Sears Auto Service Department before moving to the Cleveland RTA (Regional Transit Authority), where he dedicated over 20 years traveling to broken down buses, providing his expertise and keeping the transit system running smoothly.
A man of deep faith, Lewis was an active member of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church, where he faithfully attended Sunday school and proudly served on the usher board for many years. His commitment to his church community was a cornerstone of his life.
Beyond his work and faith, Lewis had a passion for blues and soul music, with a special love for Jimi Hendrix. He enjoyed gaming on his PS5 and building computer systems, showcasing his technical talents beyond automotive mechanics.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Lewis A. Lipscomb Sr.; his stepfather, Simon James Bell Jr.; his sister, Victoria Lipscomb; and his son, Deshawn Herring Sr.
He is survived by his loving mother, Betty Jo Bell; his fiancée, Lorraine Harper; his children: Terry Wallace (Jammie), Lakeya Lipscomb, Latoya Lipscomb, Lewis Lipscomb III (Rashon), and Lexus Lipscomb; his siblings: Steve Colbert (Priscilla), Gemma Lewis (Sir), and Simon Bell III (Sherry); 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will cherish his memory.
