Lillas Madge Magdalene Lynch, born on February 24, 1932, in the Lennox Hope Bay District of Portland, Jamaica, was a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many. She was the beloved daughter of Stafford Lynch and Inez Jones.
After making her journey to the United States, Lillas dedicated her life to the noble profession of caregiving. She not only obtained her General Education Diploma but also became a certified caregiver and nursing assistant in Cuyahoga County. Her compassionate care touched the hearts of countless families, and she became a cherished matriarch to many.
For over three decades, Lillas called Bedford Heights her home, where she was an active and engaged member of the community. Her passion for serving others was evident in her foster care of over 50 children in Cuyahoga County, her tireless volunteer efforts in initiatives like voter registration and community center food drives, and her regular attendance at the monthly town hall meetings at city hall. Lillas was a dedicated advocate and enthusiastic supporter of Mayor Fletcher Berger, actively contributing to his very first inaugural campaign.
Lillas found solace and inspiration in her faith as a devoted member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church. She shared her melodious voice in the church choir and, alongside her three children, received the sacrament of baptism.
Her professional journey led her to United Airlines, where she served as the kitchen manager until her well-earned retirement. Following her retirement, Lillas embarked on a new adventure by opening her own daycare, “Little Munchkins and Happy Hearts,” where she nurtured and cared for countless children.
In her leisure time, Ms. Lynch found joy in caring for children, reading her Bible, mastering the art of cooking spicy Jamaican dishes, and conquering crossword puzzles. Her infectious laughter, quality time with family, and unwavering devotion to her Lord and Savior were at the core of her being.
Lillas Madge Magdalene Lynch’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her kindness, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be remembered with love and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
