Lillie B. Edmondson Gooden was born on January 6, 1930, to the late Earl and Cindy Edmondson. She was born and raised in Charlotte, Tennessee and moved to Akron in 1955. Upon her arrival, she became a member of Bethel Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Bea, as she was affectionately called by close family and friends, met her husband Jesse E. Gooden in 1957. She retired from Akron City Hospital in 1990. Ms. Lil, as she was called by others, was a member of New Assembly of God Church (Open Doors), The American Legion Post 272, The Elks, The August Club, and the Four Queens. Over the years she’s enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends, but her number one passion was COOKING, and she was the BEST! She was preceded in death by, her parents, Earl and Cindy; husband, Jess; son, James Gooden; grandson, Edward Morton; brothers, Earl Lee, Herchel, Robert, Van, and Harvey; sisters, Nina, Pearl, Euvila, and Jane. She will be greatly missed by daughters, Linda Crawford Corlew, Jessie Gooden both of Akron, and Amanda (Jess) Williams of Calhoun, Georgia; sons, Brady Lee Edmondson of Charlotte, Tennessee, Edward Gooden of Canton, Ohio, and Robert (Lisa) Gooden of Warren, Michigan; sisters, Geneva Reddick, and Corinne Young both of Akron; brothers, Less Edmondson of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Douglas (Sandra) Edmondson of Akron, and her best friend for over 30 years, Elva Robinson, Frank, and Lisa Gooden; along with her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends will also mourn the loss of such a loving and caring woman.
