Lillie Etta Charlotte Fondville Cranshaw, transitioned from her earthly home in Cleveland. Ohio to her Heavenly Home on High, Wednesday, August 18, 2022, after an extended illness, and surrounded by those who loved and cared for her.
Lillie was born in Darlington County, South Carolina, daughter of the late James and Mary Dargan Fondville. She was also preceded in death by brothers Nathaniel, Heyward, Robert, and Herbert.
She grew up and was raised in Florence, South Carolina where she attended the public schools of that county. She would later marry the late Lewis Cranshaw and move to Fairmont, West Virginia; finally locating in Cleveland, Ohio to raise a family and make that her home.
She worked for the US Post Office, later retiring her work career as Head Dietitian for Cuyahoga County Head Start for thousands of children in the
Cleveland area. Lillie was a member and attended a local Church until her health began to decline.
To family members and friends, she will always be remembered as a loving, caring, supportive, no -nonsense mother, grand- mother, and great grandmother. Lillie will also be remembered for her excellent culinary skills. Her favorite enjoyment was going to the races and trying her luck at the casinos. Well-traveled, having traveled to many states and to several countries, she never allowed any grass to grow under her feet.
Left to mourn her loving and precious memories are sons, Lewis, Jr. (Carol deceased) of the Cleveland area, Anthony (Sandra), of Atlanta, Ga., daughters Annie and Reginia of the home, grands, to whom she was affectionately known as “Grannie”, Shawn, Yolanda, Rashidi (“Skippy”), Mary, Micheala, and Stephon. (She was also predeceased in death by a son, Robert (“Bobby”).
Others left to mourn their precious loved one are numerous great-grands, cousins, nieces, nephews, “special” nieces and nephews, Millie, Milton, Marva. Myra, and Marlon of South Carolina, Texas, and New York, respectively.
Lillie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Her family ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time and in the days to come.
