Linda Jernigan was born October 3, 1951 in Greensboro, Georgia to the late Fletcher and Mattie Jernigan. She was the second child of three (oldest brother James C. Jernigan – deceased and youngest sister Barbara A. Ross – deceased) and the family moved to Cleveland in 1960.
Linda graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland and then attended Cuyahoga Community College. She came to know Christ early in life and later joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. R. L. Fuller on October 6, 1968 (member 54 years). She was also a member of the church choir.
Sister Linda also served and was a proud member of the Armed Forces in three branches of the military: Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. During military career, she endured her time during the deployment of Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and was a part of the Signal Corps as a communications soldier, who worked with the infantry troops during this war. After the service, she worked for the Department of Defense Finance and Accounting (DFAS Cleveland) and retired in 2008, where she was recognized for 35 years of hard work and service.
Linda enjoyed traveling, reading, watching court shows and news, sewing, and most of all reading the Word. There was never a time when she did not have her Bible and was ready to talk about and praise The Lord.
Linda leaves behind to honor and cherish her memory niece Sister Kellie Ross, cousin Johnny Gresham, sister-in-law Beverly Jernigan, nephews Brent (wife Melodie) and Bret, and great niece Mayah. She is now with her family in heaven: father Brother Fletcher Jernigan (deceased), mother Mattie Jernigan (deceased), brother James C. Jernigan (deceased), sister Barbara A. Ross (deceased, with brother-in-law Willie Ross Jr., deceased), niece Dominique (deceased), and a host of family and friends.
