Linda Lou Stephens, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Linda lived a life deeply rooted in nature, creativity, curiosity, and compassion.
A lover of the outdoors, Linda found beauty and meaning in the natural world — camping beneath quiet skies, watching birds with keen eyes, tending her garden, and studying the plants that fascinated her through college botany courses. She approached carpentry with a craftsman’s care and embraced the spiritual path of the Wiccan faith, finding solace and connection in its rituals and rhythms.
She also had a deep passion for genealogy, which led her on a remarkable journey through her own family’s history. Her research uncovered many meaningful discoveries about both her heritage and that of her late husband, Arthur Stephens, helping to weave their shared stories into a legacy for future generations.
Linda’s love of math and science fed her natural curiosity and appreciation for how the world works. Her professional life reflected her versatility and skill, with careers in both banking and cosmetology fields where her keen intellect and creative touch could shine in different ways.
A breast cancer survivor, Linda faced one of life’s greatest challenges with courage and grace. Her strength through that journey was a testament to her fighting spirit and the hope she carried for herself and those she loved.
Known for her realism and quick wit, Linda often said with a laugh, “The big print giveth and the small print taketh away.” She loved a good hug and a slow dance, embracing life’s quiet joys with warmth and authenticity. During the holidays, her banana pudding and zucchini bread became treasured traditions, baked with love and shared with a generous heart.
She earned her GED later in life, a testament to her perseverance and thirst for knowledge. Over the years, she also cared for and adored many beloved pets, each one a cherished companion and source of joy.
Linda is survived by her two sons, Stephen and Michael, and many grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her love of discovery and quiet strength. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur.
No funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. Instead of flowers, gifts may be made in Linda’s memory to the Cleveland Metroparks – North Chagrin Reservation, reflecting her lifelong love for nature and conservation. Donations can be made online at clevelandmetroparks.com/giveonline or mailed to Cleveland Metroparks, 4101 Fulton Parkway, Cleveland, OH 44144.
Linda’s spirit will live on in the rustling leaves, the chirping birds, the blooming gardens, the stories she passed down, and the laughter that lingers from moments shared. May she rest in peace, and may we keep her credence in our hearts and “do no harm”, as an example of living in such a way, where all living things are connected
