Linda was born in Akron, Ohio to the late L.V. and Susie (Johnson) Blue on June 8, 1953. She attended Akron Public Schools, receiving her diploma from South High School.
Linda, with her maternal spirit, was a creative and compassionate woman who loved children. She spent her entire career working with young people in various capacities. In 1980, Linda began working with the Family Life Program where she would meet lifelong friends Cathi Smith-Bentley, Sherrie Walker Jackson, and Kathy Washnock Bailey. Upon her departure from Family Life, she began working as a teaching assistant for Akron Public Schools. Moving to Columbus in 1989, Linda devoted herself to residential students as a Youth Leader at The Ohio State School for the Blind. Her final assignment with the state of Ohio would allow her to retire doing something that she loved: preparing delicious meals for young people at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility. After retirement, with her desire to continue guiding young people, Linda served as a valued substitute for Akron Public Schools.
Linda was a member of St. John C.M.E. Church. Her spiritual journey began early in life as she and her siblings were always lovingly required to attend Sunday School and Church every Sunday at St. John when it was located on Berry Ave. Whether she was in Ohio or Georgia, Linda always attended or joined a house of worship. She truly believed in the Scripture: “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage. Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). She also faithfully attended Sunday School on ZOOM until her health prohibited her from doing so.
The center of her life were her children, April and Anthony, until the arrival of her grandchildren Ty, Micah, and Kayden Savannah, who were the pride and joy of her soul.
On Saturday, March 18, 2023, God called dear Linda to her glory. She fought a valiant fight, and her faith never wavered. She was preceded in death by sister Neida Thompson.
Linda is survived by her son, Anthony Charles Blue (Angela) of Washington, D.C.; daughter April Denise Blue (Carey) Scott of Covington, Georgia; three grandchildren, Ty Blue, Micah Blue, and Kayden Savannah Keels; brother, Lonnie “Elvert” (Carol) Blue; sisters Rev. Barbara (Henry) Cargill of Canton, Georgia; Emma Benson of Akron, OH, and Judy Blue of Columbus, Ohio, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
